“hot dog” as a verb means to perform in a recklessly or flamboyantly skillful manner, as in a sport or athletic activity; show off.

The key word in that is “reckless.”

The use of the term “hot dog” in this video was slang for show-off or someone wanting to attract attention to themselves.

For subtitling, you’ll want to make sure it is described as being negative.

Dear Sheldon,
I’m from Chili (southamerica) and I’m subtitling this video for Safety Training and I think you could help with the meaning of “Not a job for a Hot Dog”. Literally doesn’t say too much, but I assume “Not a job for a Hot Dog” stands for “not an easy job” or the opposite, “quite a hard job”. If you can help me, I’d appreciate it.

I was wondering the same thing as JG. Guess by the time mine gets into the millions I will be making millions and probably won’t have to worry about it! Much better than having to pay every month for a service though.
