Been and Done.

July 2006 has been crazy and there’s still a week to go.
I haven’t had much time to update any of my other sites either so don’t feel like I have been ignoring you, my loyal readers. (Yes, both of you.)
The Funeral
Grandpa Bill’s funeral in Young, Saskatchewan was very cool. I hadn’t seen most my family on that side of the bloodline in over a decade so getting together with them was a family reunion atmosphere. Grandpa was actually expected to die a few years ago so it was not a surprise to anyone and with his proclamation of accepting Jesus as Lord, we get to see him again.
He was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, which made the funeral very emotional as the priest passed the torch over to the veterans for their ceremony. One read from their funeral book as the dozen or so uniformed members took off their poppies and attached them to the Canadian flag that was draped on the casket. I’m a sucker for ceremony and this made me choke back tears.
Thunderstorms in Orlando
Last week I took two co-workers with me down to hot and humid Orlando, Florida for a few days of meetings and meatings. The flights were through Toronto which meant taking the long way around to get there. Thankfully, we took WestJet so at least the service was good. I am very thankful for their legroom and free satellite TV. We arrived to humidity and heat which is why Orlando in the summer should NOT be considered a vacation destination.
The meetings went well. More information on the meetings can be found over at my ministry update site but more importantly, the food was very good. We ate at TGI Fridays, Bennigans, Tony Romas, O’hana, some Italian place and The Crab Shack.
One interesting development was that Bennigans has taken the cheese wheel burger off the menu and O’Hana is not bringing shrimp on skewers anymore.
Back
We came home to hot and humid in Abbotsford which has caused the family to burrow into our basement which Julie considers a dungeon due to its lack of windows. It should cool off towards the end of this week.

good to have you here for a while. i agree about orlando in the summer. i hate it.
but i’ve told you, i think the reason bennigans won’t sell the deep fried cheese wheel burger is because no one will insure them. it’s like trying to get a diving board or slide put into your backyard pool!
So make me sign a waiver!
