Abigah - Learning a New Language [ruby + rails]For those of you interested in programming languages, read on… for those of you who think java is coffee and python is a type of snake, you might as well stop reading.

I’ve been interested in Ruby on Rails since attending a Building of Basecamp workshop last October in San Francisco. David Heinemeier Hansson gave a quick demo by building a down and dirty version of Writeboard in about 15 minutes. I had been using Basecamp for a few weeks and was very impressed with it and since it was built with Rails I began to follow its use.

A year later and I am even more impressed. Although it seems to have a cult-like following and hype like a new Apple product, Rails has been the framework for a number of quality 37 Signals products as well as A list Apart’s new CMS. If it’s good enough for Happy Cog and company… it’s good enough for me.

Abigah.com is where I will be posting all of my learning experiences with Ruby (the language) and Ruby on Rails (the framework) so I don’t overwhelm the 99.9 % of Kotyk.com visitors with SQL or code. If you want to follow my progress, head over to Abigah.com - learning ruby and ruby on rails.
