With Google launching a new experiment “Google Sitemaps” I thought I’d check out the sitemap protocol.

Wow. It looks like the marketing department’s idea of a sitemap was pretty much useless without all the xml tagging that Google desires.

It looks like another project at work.

Google wants every URL on the site on the map but for sites that are large, we will need to split out the sitemap into multiple files, lest they become larger than 10 MB.
